Coffee is derived from dried berries from the Coffee Arabica plant. Coffee recipes differ from person to person and from place to place. It completely depends on the type of coffee seeds one is using. Generally, people boil water and add instant coffee purchased from the market, even if they’re coffee lovers. However, those, who prefer aroma and flavor, always grind their coffee beans at home and make their own coffee.

Manual brewing at home gives better quality and delicious coffee. Often people are confused with the type of grinder or coffee to purchase. Mostly, consumers go with the machine that is quite in demand. However, it is a fact that every machine and types of grinder prepares different types of coffee powder which ultimately gives a different flavor. So those who love espresso will have to get a different grinder from those who love French peas.

Since most of us are working from home these days and are avoiding crowded places making coffee at home is the most important thing for us. We have a proper guide to help you make the best coffee at home in no time –

There are 5 types of brewing method –

Type#1: Cafetiere

It is an easy method that doesn’t require any filter. Just make it quickly and enjoy with every sip.

Method:

  • Boil water in the kettle and let it cool slowly.
  • Then add 18g of coffee and 300ml of Luke-warm water in the kettle and close the lid after stirring coffee into the water.
  • Wait for at least 3 minutes for the coffee to brew and then pour it into cups to enjoy.

Type#2: Chemex and V60

Chemex maintains the subtle coffee flavor which is enjoyed with family.

V60 is the same as that of Chemex as it picks up the mild flavor of the coffee. You can make one or two coffees at a time with this method

Method:

  • Boil water in the kettle and let it cool slowly.
  • Put the filter paper on the Chemex or V60 and pour little water all over the paper to make it moist. Later discard this water as it contains the papery taste of filter paper.
  • Add your coffee powder to the filter paper. 18g of V60 or 30g of Chemex to 500ml of water. (Remember, V60 coffee powder will be finely ground and Chemex will be coarsely ground.)
  • Now slowly add water to the coffee and wait for 30 seconds for the water to dissolve coffee and drop into the kettle. This is process is called bloom where the coffee granules absorb water to open up ad every flavor is extracted from it. (Always add water double the amount of coffee.)
  • Keep adding water in a circular motion after 30 seconds until you get the desired amount. Once all the coffee is flittered you can drink it black or add cream and sugar.

Type#3: Aeropress

This process prepares strong coffee just for one person.

Method:

  • Boil water in the kettle and allow it to cool.
  • Put the Aeropress filter on the circular plastic cap and pour some water on it.
  • Assemble your Aeropress machine and set the numbers upside down on the scale.
  • Pour coffee granule and pour double the amount of water in and leave it for 30 seconds to bloom. After 30 seconds, add the reaming water and leave it for one minute.
  • Remove the cap and turn the whole Aeropress machine. Now place it on top of a cup and press it downwards. (If there is resistance while pushing it, then the granules are fine grind and you’ll get a good flavor if the machine pushes down easily, then the granules are too coarse.)
  • Extract all coffee and add cream or sugar and drink it.

Type#4: Moka Pot

It makes a thick and muddy coffee that can be served strong and diluted with extra water.

Method:

  • Fill the bottom of the Moka Pot with water which should reach up to the valve.
  • Add coffee to the filter basket at the proper level and put it to the base of the Moka Pot. Now, screw the top and place the Moka Pot on the gas directly to heat.
  • Let the water boil then lower the flame to produce a simmer. This low fame will allow the water to rise through the coffee granules and spill the coffee to the top portion of the Moka Pot.
  • Coffee is ready when you hear the hissing sound. Remove it from the gas and serve it immediately.
  • If you find it way too strong then you can add some water in it or cream.

Learning to make the right coffee is also an achievement. There are different ways of improving its taste and flavor. Some love it with extra shots of cream, while some love the bitter taste. The brewing differs from person to person, but in the end, we all want that one cup of coffee in the morning.
