A Very Foodstoned Update: A Book is On The Way

Wow, it’s been a long time since I’ve done anything with this blog. Seriously, I haven’t written anything here in at least a year and before that it had probably been just as long. For those of you that don’t know, I started writing for a variety of different publications a few years back which commanded most of my time and most of my work can currently be found on Thrillist.com.

With that being said, I’ve also been working on another MASSIVE project which has taken a long time to get all worked out and while some of you may be aware, most of you have been probably a bit in the dark. While it’s been a long time in the making, I can now safely say to you all that my very first cook book is on it’s way.

The recipes have been written, the photographs have been taken, and we’re going through the final proofing stages right now with the book set to release this spring. It’s taken a lot of blood, sweet, and tears, but it was all ultimately worth it.

The books focus is lake fish; i.e. the kind of fish you catch out of Midwestern lakes. In it there are recipes for all kinds of cool things like sunfish, crappies, northern pike, walleye, perch, and more. The idea was to bring a lot of easy, yet modern flavors together to create a variety of different types of recipes in bunch of different styles and flavor profiles.

These recipes are all 100% the kinds of things that I love to cook and they utilize a lot of global flavors while using as many local ingredients as I could get my hands on. It’s a lot of fun and it’s my hope that you’ll all like it when it comes out.

So, with all of that, I’m ready to get back to blogging about the food things that I care about and  writing new fun recipes for you all! Hopefully I haven’t lost too many of you during my long hiatus, but things are finally starting to come together and I hope that you’ll  all be here along for the ride with me.
